I liked this one because to me it was the one that was easiest to understand. It was organized and easy to read. I appreciated the real handwritten diagrams/examples of maps. I also liked the bullets as points to be made, as opposed to a bunch of writing.

I love this site because it really breaks down visual organization and concept mapping. I have never really been good at making these kinds of maps so I definitely found this helpful. The site explains what a concept map is, how, why, and when to use it, also it gives examples of what they look like. I really like that it gives you examples of what it looks likes because then you know how yours should look in order for it to be useful. I really like the section where they explain how to make a concept map. My favorite tips are to use color, and different symbols. I think those two are very helpful in creating a concept map that you can actually learn and review from.

Another awesome thing from this site is the links that it gives to other sites that will further help you in creating the best concept map to help you. Overall, fantastic site on concept mapping!

This article was simple and easy to understand. It talks about what concept mapping is and how to use it. I really like how they showed some samples of concept maps. I used these maps before starting an essay but I never thought of using color. I'll try using color next time I make a concept map.

Visual Organization

I like the concept of concept mapping presented on this website. I think that visual organization in general is a really great way for some students, including myself, to better understand a concept.

Concept mapping is effective because it requires the student to examine cause and effect, relationships and inter-relationships, differences, or hierarchies within the concept as a whole. I enjoy using concept maps in many areas of my life as an easy form of visual organization.

This site is about what concept mapping is and how to create a concept map. The site starts off by telling you what a concept map is. They include two real examples of a concept map created by students.

The site then goes on to describe why concept maps are used, what they can be used for, who can use concept maps (everyone!), and how to make a concept map. Some of the ways to make a concept map include identifying the topic, brainstorming what you know about the topic, and placing information on your map.

Also included on this site are things to look out for when creating a concept map and a link to a free software download that can be used to help create your concept map. I chose to review this site is because I have never been good at taking any kind of notes. Usually when taking notes in class I try and write everything from power points that are given in class and when it comes to taking note from a text book I end up taking too many notes or not enough notes. I am hoping that by learning to create concept maps I will be able to create more focused notes in the future.

University of Guelph posted an article on concept maps. Concept maps are a graphical way of organizing thoughts to show a correlation of related material. This article gives examples of a simple map and a more complex map. A simple map can be completed relatively quickly, while a more complex map may take more time and thought. Anyone can use concept mapping. You need a main topic, to brainstorm ideas on the topic, and place the information on a map. Add branches, arrows, color, boxes, or decorate it in a way that best fits your project. Don't forget to add information relevant to your subject into the map. Using concept maps moves you beyond rote memory and helps build critical thinking and mostly is an awesome tool to help study for those exams. This article mostly aligned with our module 8 assignment. The idea of concept mapping is not a new one, just an underutilized one by me. They are a simple yet effective way of organizing material to use as a study tool. I enjoyed the example showing a simple way to use a map and another example of a more intricate use of the map.

This document is great because it asks questions that the average student would find themselves asking and they answer it plain in simple in a bullet format. They offer you a free link to help with concept mapping and they even give you nice illustrations to follow.

I like this site because it's reliable and it's easy to read and comprehend. It gives simple questions, answers, and pictures.
