I really liked this list of ways to refocus your attention. Number 2: Plan your worry time seemed to resonate with me the most. It makes al ot of sense, and something I should try to do more often.

These are some really great tips I find very helpful when it comes to studying or learning something new. Making sure I have good lighting always helps. If I have poor lighting I find myself squinting or focusing too hard with my eyes, causing a headache which I don't want that. I find it interesting how I thought before about studying than I do now after reading these topics.

In high school they want you to finish your work no matter how it gets done. Just get it in. So they set you up for cramming. The deadlines are not always realistic for what they ask of you. In college I find it much more easy to relax and learn and study time becomes a little easier, because you can focus on what needs to be done not how much time you have to do it. So this really helps me even more. I need to find my study place and have materials to take notes.

This helped me the most because it shows reasons why people can't concentrate sometimes and how to fix that. It describes ways to stay focused. Teaching your mind not to wander. Reminding yourself to "Be here Now" and practice ignoring distractions. Planning your worry time so you can stay focused on what you need to get done and can do it. Keeping your mind active by considering what you are reading, asking questions to yourself and taking notes will keep you more focused.

What an great point of view. Concentration is a skill that you can learn. I have never looked at it that way. I do have a hard time concentrating with life happening around me. I try to multitask with my family while getting school work done and it isn't working.

Plan study time is a great concept. Turn off TV. Being that I usually try to study downstairs with my son and husband while they are watching TV I need to make the choice to get up and move into another room.

Sit in a comfy chair.Just because I am doing homework doesn't mean I have to sit in a hard chair at the table. I can sit in the comfy rocking chair or in my bed as long as I can focus.

I find many of the links extremely helpful. I have to say I am very relieved that I have these wonderful resources here to help me. Of all, I find that I am easily distracted and find myself not knowing how to get back to business. The tips I found here are going to be very beneficial to me, because I now know that I just need to keep my mind active.

I learned how to: • plan ahead to study. • Allow myself to be in a comfortable environment where I am not easily distracted. • Turn off the TV and cell phone.

I find it very interesting that I can actually switch tasks every hour or so to keep my alertness. I am looking forward to applying these forms of resources and tips to better my concentration.

I thought these tips really helped me. I never thought of getting air during an assignment, or rewarding myself after I get something done. It never came into thought to do anything like that, but I can already see that it's benefited me.

I really enjoyed reading the site "I can't concentrate." I think it gave me really valuable information. They break down the seven steps to concentration. By breaking up all seven steps I was able to really point out some steps that I need to work on. I was able to recognize my strengths and weaknesses. I found that I'm, very good at getting air and of course rewarding myself, but also found I need to work on teaching my mind not to wander and keeping my mind active. I really thought this was definitely one of the most beneficial sites I read about for this discussion topic for my class!

I have always had trouble with concentration. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was younger and have been able to cope with it as far as short term tasks go, but I can not concentrate or study for long periods of time. I love the fact that there were lists of ways to help myself to concentrate for long periods of time so that I can get what I need to done.

This link is really helpful because it explains that your brain needs sometimes a break. That by saying BE HERE NOW can really help because it can help you concentrate more. That you need to have a plan when studying, and even a snack can help. That when studying you need to do the hard work first because that is when you have more energy. I really liked this linked because they have really good tips to be able to concentrate in topics you don't like.

Very helpful ideas

I loved this article! The idea of reminding yourself to focus on the homework is a really good technique. I have used a similar technique to get my mind to stop wandering when trying to fall asleep and it works great, but I never thought to use it for studying until now. I also really like the idea of rewarding yourself after a specific task. These are all great ideas that I will use to help concentrate in the future.

When I can't concentrate I always try to take a little break from what I am doing to refresh my mind and my body. Especially when I am feeling tired. When I feel that I can no longer concentrate I feel that maybe I am thinking too hard on something that I am stuck on. What I end up doing is I change the subject usually and go on to the next, so that I give my brain a break of that subject.

If I still can't concentrate then I move to a different place, make sure that there is the correct lighting, make sure that people are not being noisy or doing something that can distract me easily. These are the things that I normally do, because I am one of those people that easily can get distracted. These techniques have helped me a lot throughout the past.

This article is wonderful. So many helpful tips in staying on point and keeping focus. I love how it tells you that paying attention is a choice. I have never thought of it this way. It is so true though. If you are going to get good grades in class, you have to choose to pay attention.

My hardest thing when studying is keeping on task and not falling asleep while reading. I am going to try their recommendation of getting up frequently, and rewarding myself for staying on task. This is a fabulous article. Thank you so much for sharing.

This was probably the single greatest impact that affected me poorly in high school. I like this study skill resource because it is very simple and straight to the point, yet offers many options to address the issue you are facing when it comes to concentration. I personally feel that this website will be one I visit quite frequently in trying to find the happy medium of studying on my own time, alone.

BE HERE NOW! I love how this is given as a choice. Just today I was trying to work on assignment in class with noisy neighbors next to me kept talking. They completely broke my concentration and I found myself making errors. Next time this occurs and, I'm sure it will this coming Tuesday, I'm going to try some of suggestions in this article. I'd especially love to apply them to my study routine.
