Concentration some basic guidelines

This is very helpful, because it's short and simple yet has very important key things to do to keep focused and concentrated. I like how they also put down have a friend/roommate and some snacks. Not many would put that down but those are very important because they can either help you when needed or help you relax when you need a break.

Setting basic guidelines really is important. Learning to divide your work into small, short range goals is more effective than trying to cram all of your learning and studying into one long session. It's basically like getting a head start and returning later. This is a really great step to practice. Good lighting is important, not being around noise like a T.V or radio while studying, even sitting on the right chair while doing your work leads to better concentration.

I loved this short and simple article on concentration. I love to people watch and notice there are certain places I have to avoid if I want to get stuff done. This article only confirmed what I knew I needed to do to make sure I was focused and able to properly concentrate.

Concentration: Some basic guidelines

I really liked this site about concentration. It talks about you should set short range goals. I feel this is a good idea for me personally to set goals each week in order to keep my concentration on my studying and not off wondering what it is I need to get done. This way it is all written down for me to go back and look at.

The basics of the web site state that you should have a place that is set aside just for studying and this should be the only things that are happening in this place. Some of the ideas that are on the site are: A. Find a place that I can study is half the battle. Most of the time the places that I find to study are places that have some type of distraction. The web site states that this should be a quiet area. Like for instance, in the student center, bedroom at home, or a place that is away from all other distractions. B. Make a place specific to studying. Making a place that is just specific for studying will help to have time on task that is just for homework. Making sure that this place is just for homework and not for other activities will help to minimize the distractions. C. The web site states that this area that you have outlined as just your studying area should have the following: • good lighting • ventilation • a comfortable chair, but not too comfortable • a desk large enough to spread out your materials

D. Making sure that you area does not have any of the things that are distractions will help the homework process. The web site states that some of the distractions could be the following: • Within the view of other people doing activities that I want to be doing, • My cell phone • a loud stereo • The television • A Person that is talking to me or wants to talk about something that is not homework related • a refrigerator stocked with scrumptious goodies 2. Dividing the work that needs to be done into small goals will help me to reach the finish line.

I found this site to be super helpful. It had nice bullet points, which other sites had as well, but these ones were easier to read for me. The way things were worded made it a bit interesting to read which kept my interest!

I thought this paper was okay. Kind of odd them say a 27 inch TV rather than just any TV but i like the ideas of a "studying place". The studying place seems like it would be helpful when in school. I also like the idea about having short goals like reading the first couple sections of the textbook then reading the next later rather than doing it all at once. This paper was really helpful and enjoyable.

Social events?

I found the advice in this article very helpful. I would have never thought of how studying where you hold social events might distract from your studies. Awesome advice. I am definitely going to remember these tips, especially about vague goals. I am the queen of vague goals.

Study in an active environment

I found the basic guidelines very useful. I use many of them, however I disagree with some. I find working with music on, relaxing and motivating. I grew up in a house with siblings and little time or space for myself. So I learned to study just about any where. Being able to study in a active environment can be learned.

People as Distractions?

I found this useful and insightful I would have never thought about not having social gatherings where you study. It's hard for me to eliminate people who are distractions as i have 3 children, but i could see how that would be helpful, if possible.

I found this article very helpful to me because I do struggle with concentration. The tips on what should NOT be in your study area was great. Also the part about not setting yourself up to fail was a good reminder on a way I can succeed when studying.

Thank you for this article. I know is seems so simple to think about these little things to help us concentrate. However it just is not always that easy. I copied this information to keep handy, so that I can see it often ,so I stay on track with concentrating during the time I set aside to do so in my time management schedule.

Well this section was really good also. And after reading the section of basic guidelines, I have determined that I am thinking a library sounds really good for studying.

And vague goals. That will for sure take a lot of work on. I am the worst when it comes to being vague.

And yes were does time go?? I really do need to change lot in my family and my home..

I didn't know some of this information.I like the fact that you can put your studying into a block time, versus trying to do your homework all at once. It makes it so much easier with putting it into time blocks.

Concentration and ADD help

I rarely find a site that is easy for me to use. This site is one of the best I have found. I have ADD and I have to find other ways of helping me concentrate and keep on track. This site offered me tips and strategies along with helpful handouts. It offers more than one way of understanding the information they are explaining. I am happy that I found a helpful website.

This article was short and not complicated. It was easy for me to understand and learn. The article talked about how if you want to study efficiently that you should be in an environment that is comfortable and with good lighting for you. Also when you study that you must commit to it and learn to say no to any distractions like your friends, phone, TV, etc.
