ReviewsHow to Study Biology (and succeed)
Anyone can be an A student! :)
College Junior University of North Texas, Texas I came across this website to find ways to deal with test anxiety. I'm a Biology jr. at UNT, and this website told me stuff I already knew but in a whole new way--, STUDY EARLY,LEARN TO UNDERSTAND AND IMMERSE YOURSELF IN IT by STUDYING EVERY DAY--have fun and use your senses. very good advice. Sometimes I get bogged down from the pressure of my Biology course load but this website gave me hope in making it through with my BS alive! This website is a MUST READ!
so worth it
College Freshman Austin Community College, Cypress Creek, Cedar Park, TX This is an excellent way to learn to study biology. And succeed.
How to Study review reflections
Isaiah, College Sophomore Canada, Redwood City, CA Good overall, but no mention of flash cards. (very important in Bio) Much of this stuff I already knew. I did take away something in the 'Concept Map' method and will be using that.
Good HELP
Layla, College Junior MSU, Michigan This site is very motivational and helpful. It helped me see my weaknesses and I hope that I will get better.
Flash card card games?
Jacqueline Torres, Grad Canada College, Redwood City, CA I found this handout to be very true; well, at least, based on my own experience in biology. When I took biology, I realized that it wasn't enough for me to just attend class. I had to take the class and studying habits up to another notch. Not only did I find rewriting the notes and making concept maps helpful, but I also found making drawings and making tons of flashcards very helpful. However, I do have to mention that I found it more helpful, when I made the flashcards in a way that I could potentially play with them in a game-like manner, so to quiz myself whenever I had free time. Working with other students to summarize and go over what was done in class, and trying to come up with possible test questions, was also very useful. Teachers may organize their classes in a manner that they best see fit. However, not everyone makes connections in this manner; so as the handout suggests, it is crucial that we adjust class material in a manner that we can best understand it.
Succeeding in a college Biology course
Averi Michael, College Freshman Austin Community College, Austin, Texas In this article, I liked how the author explains things. He is very blunt in how you need to study this subject and how the way you study effect your score on test/exams. Then he goes into how the time you spend is a factor and also, the quality of time, meaning that if you actually studied rather than watched tv and then read a sentence then your eyes are glued to the tv again. I also, really like how he gives you directions to make a mind map of your notes. That will be something I keep in mind for my future classes. |
