Reading Strategies

Reading Strategies Review

I found the Reading Strategies resource to be very thorough and helpful. I like that the author included links to many other reading techniques resources. I will say, however, that after being a biology student in both Anatomy and Physiology while taking other college courses, expecting a student to read and reread the book 3 times is unrealistic. Many students taking multiple classes and/or working won't have the time to do this. Instead, I would suggest that a student read the book at least once and while doing so, I would suggest that he or she bookmark pages with important text or questions. By writing down and attaching your questions to specific pages, it will be ensured that you won't forget the questions you meant to remember and you will gain a better understanding and knowledge of the subject when you get those questions answered by a professor or fellow student. Bookmarking important text is also beneficial because it will be much easier to find in a time of need.

Reading tips for tutoring

This is a very helpful article because anatomy has such a huge volume of information to shift through. This article helps put it into a manageable plan where one can read productively and not waste time reading something they cannot remember. It seems like it is a lot of work but if you work effectively using these tips you will get out a lot more out the reading and use time wisely.
