Study Habits of Exceptional Accounting Student

Fun With Phases
Sara, College Sophomore

The main subject that I tutor is accounting, so I read through several resources about "how to" for accounting. The resource that I found to be most helpful was "Study Habits for the Average Accounting Student." The reason I found this resource to be the most helpful is that the author broke down the study tips in phases, (as he calls them). Specifically, four phases, including before the lecture, during the lecture, after the lecture, and before the exam. What I love about the phases is that it highlights the fact that studying is a constant process and doing well on exams requires a dedication to learning the subject. On a practical level, I believe that studying this way works through reinforcement. I've found that when I read it, then I hear it and talk about it, then I review it; I don't have trouble recalling the information when it's exam time. This is because I've actually learned the material instead of just memorizing some information.
